Luau / Pool Party "We're going to a hukilau, where the laulau is the laukau at the big Luau...." If you're unable to take off on a vacation to Hawaii, we will bring it to you with a Luau. Come join the fun as there will be a Mai Tai Limbo contest, Hula contest (guys will wear grass skirts and coconut bras) and show off your favorite luau outfit on the luau runway. Everyone needs to dress up in some sort of Hawaiian attire, could be Hula Dancers, Fire Dancers, or even the Tacky Tourist (beach hat, sunglasses, snorkels,). Many items can be purchased at thrift stores. UPDATED VERSION The Pig has been ordered and it will be delicious as it will be stuffed with fresh fruits then slow roasted over natural hardwoods. We are asking that everyone contribute $5.00 for the cost of the pig, cooking, and having it delivered. I have broken down the food into 5 categories and grouped them by the initial of your FIRST name. Please edit your RSVP to show what your will be bringing out of you category. A-B Appetizer (vegi tray, chips, dip, shrimp, etc.) C-F Dessert (cookies, cupcakes, etc.) G-K Salad/Fruit (pasta salad, mac. salad, watermelon, etc.) L-M Hot/Main Dish (baked beans, meatballs, hamburger, hotdogs, salmon burgers, etc.) N-Y Drinks (Margarita mix, tequila, pineapple juice, rum, ginger ale, etc) **see below Drinks: We thought it would be easier to have 2 main drinks consisting of Margaritas and Tropical Punch. If people would like to contribute to these two drinks, please bring a bottle or mixer of some sort. If you prefer you can bring something else that you would like to drink such as milkshakes or wine. I will provide ice water. I am asking that people try to get together and carpool if possible (I do have very nice neighbors). There is also Summit Trading on the corner of 104th & Canyon which is very close, people can meet there and share a ride here. I do have a pool so please bring your swimsuit or whatever you would like to wear (no jean cutoffs please) and a towel. The volleyball net is set up and ready to go. We also have a special treat as our own Jane Brody and Geriann are going to teach us how to Hula. Thank you gals!!! Things to remember: Your food item, $5.00, swimsuit and towel, folding chair and if possible a bag of ice. MOST of all, bring your ALOHA SPIRIT!!! See you soon, Cindy, Danene, and Karen

Star Gazing, Camping, and The Percied Meteor Shower Let's go star gazing. This year's Percied Meteor Shower can be seen the best between August 11 and 13 from 11pm until dawn. Although the moon will brighten the sky some, we should still be able to see a nice show. We'll camp at Penrose Point State Park so we can watch the stars as long as we want. In the morning we'll have a pancake breakfast before heading back home. Bring your star chart, telescope, a blanket or lounge chair and warm clothes. Also, please bring money to help pay for the campsites and the pancake breakfast. A couple more campstoves, fry pans, and spatulas would be helpful. We've got sites 61 and 63 reserved for Friday night. We can fit a couple tents per campsite so we'll need to share tents. Check in is at 2:30 pm, come when you can. There is a $10 per extra vehicle fee so you might want to carpool. See you there
