Kayak Paddle around Ft Pierce Inlet State Park
We will be meeting at Harbor Point Park on Tuesday March 9, 2010 on North 2nd Street at 12:30PM and heading out to the park from there in search of the Dolphins, and Manatees that swim in the park. This is going to be one of the warmst days this winter 78 degrees. The last time we went out here we saw a couple manatees and dolphin playing. You just never know what you will see. Remember to bring plenty of water, hat, sun screen, Pfd's and a whistle. If you should need a kayak be sure to come by and pick one up we have plenty. Paddle out for Pelicans, a fundraiser for Pelican Island National Wildlife Refug Sponsored by Kayaks, etc. WHERE: Riverview Park WHEN: Saturday March 13th Sign in Starts at 9:00 AM FEE: $10 per person with your own kayak $20 per person for Rental Kayaks or Seat in Trader Canoes We welcome everyone from 2 to 102- this is a family friendly event and not a race. Description: We will launch from Riverview Park as a group and paddle out to Pelican Island. This route is open shallow waters and we will cross the inter-coastal waterway, it is a 2 mile crossing with spoil islands to explore. This refuge is an important area for dolphins, manatee, white pelicans, osprey, brown pelicans, etc Beginners are welcome to come out and see the refuge from water level.
